PSHEE is mainly delivered through tutor time, impact days and lessons in Year 7, 9 & 11. The department aims to provide a wholly inclusive spiral and thematic curriculum allowing for development of knowledge relevant to the age and stage, which will contribute to pupils’ personal, social development and wellbeing; PSHEE is not just the formal curriculum, but also upon extra-curricular activities, clubs and responsibilities, partnerships with the local community, links with external agencies; helping to contribute to a positive school ethos.
Through-out years 7-11 PSHEE addresses issues such as:
- Transition e.g from Primary, 16+
- Mental health including resilience, self-worth and aspiration
- RHSE (see below for more details)
- Respectful relationships
- Drugs – including alcohol, tabacco and vaping
- Healthy eating/ physical activity
- Protected characteristics
- LGBTQ+ equalities and inclusion
- Economic Wellbeing and Financial Capability
- Safety - including Esafety and First Aid
- Careers, work-related learning and decision making/ options
- Citizenship and British Values
